Top Ten TV Shows

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and involves making a lists about a certain topic. And who doesn’t like making lists, right?

I briefly considered making a list of my top ten favourite films, and then I realised that that is pretty much impossible. So, here’s my list of top ten tv shows.

Top Ten TV Shows

The Tomorrow People

10. The Tomorrow People

I was so disappointed when I found out that this show had been cancelled. It was awesome! Plus John and Astrid were the best couple ever.

Death in Paradise

9. Death in Paradise

For those of you who aren’t British, this is a detective/murder mystery show set on a Caribbean island and it is so much fun. You should all watch it immediately.

Torchwood

8. Torchwood

I’m a huge fan of Doctor Who, and this spin off was awesome. Especially the first couple of series’. And the fact that it’s set in Cardiff, where I live, is even more awesome. I’m also going to throw The Sarah Jane Adventures in here, because that is another of my favourite shows.

The Musketeers

7. The Musketeers

It only started this year but I really enjoyed the whole series. It was a lot of fun, and the stories were interesting, and Peter Capaldi was brilliant in it.

Gavin and Stacey

6. Gavin & Stacey

This is another British comedy that probably isn’t that popular overseas. However, it’s the funniest thing ever, and everybody is awesome in it. Especially Rob Brydon. Because everybody needs an Uncle Bryn in their lives.

Horrible Histories

5. Horrible Histories

I was a huge fan of the books when I was younger, and when the tv series started I fell in love. It’s hilarious and there are so many great songs. I’d definitely recommend this one to anybody. Also, I’m so excited for the new film that the cast are making!

Once Upon a Time

4. Once Upon a Time

I love fairytale retellings, so I love Once Upon a Time. It’s so good. The twists it puts on fairytales are so creative, and it’s really hard to stop watching this programme.

Doctor Who

3. Doctor Who

It’s just brilliant. Although the recent series’ have been a bit disappointing at times because of the storylines, the acting has still been fantastic. I can’t wait for the new series to start in August!

Miranda

2. Miranda

Yes, another comedy. But you can’t deny that Miranda isn’t hilarious. She’s so relatable and the programme is brilliant. Yet another show that I think everybody should watch.

Merlin

1. Merlin

There was no way I could leave this off the list. This was my favourite show for the five years it was on the telly, and I still love it. I’m actually in the middle of rewatching the whole thing and I still think it’s brilliant.

What are your favourite TV shows? And what do you recommend that I watch?

    1. I loved Ben Miller in Death in Paradise, but I think I might get to like the new guy soon. 🙂

    1. I love Merlin so much! I hope you get to watch the rest of it at some point. 🙂

  1. I have a real soft spot for Death in Paradise – it’s just a fun, easy watch.
I really need to catch up on Once Upon A Time, I’ve only seen the first two seasons…

    1. I totally agree, it’s a lot of fun to watch.
I need to see the newest series of Once too, because it looks really good.

  2. I binge-watched Merlin earlier this year. Definitely one of my favorites, but sadly I wasn’t able to feature it on my list because I have a lot of favorites hahaha!

    1. I love binge-watching Merlin. To be honest, I think I’m a little obsessed with seeing as I quote a lot of it while watching it.

    1. I think the last couple of episodes were my favourites, just because so much happens. 😀 I can’t wait for the next series to start!

    1. All I’ve been doing recently is binge-watching Merlin and it’s a lot of fun! I’m dreading getting to the last series though.

    1. I watched Torchwood all at once a few years ago and loved it. And Doctor Who is awesome too.

  3. It was definitely disappointing to hear TTP being cancelled. It definitely had the potential but often felt like it was still finding itself (if that makes any sense) throughout the middle of the season. But it started to get real good closer to the end; it’s just too bad that it didn’t remain consistent throughout to keep ratings up. I did enjoy the Astrid and John pairing though!

    Cheers,

    1. I get what you mean about it still finding itself. I really wish it hadn’t been cancelled though because the ending of the series was definitely interesting.

      1. Yeah, it’s unfortunate that a lot of shows seem to build traction closer to (or at the actual finale). Here’s hoping they’ll bring it back for a shorter season or change the times at least (I think it was competing with The Voice etc for views).
